GlobalGiving Photo Contest

GlobalGiving Photo Contest

GlobalGiving’s Annual Photo Contest is celebrating its 10th anniversary! Each year, we have the privilege of sharing our partner’s incredible work through the art of photography. This contest is the perfect opportunity to build support within your community, expand your outreach, and capture your organization’s mission in a visual narrative.

When you submit your most compelling images, your organization will have a chance to compete for prizes including $1,000 towards your project, social media promotion, and time on GlobalGiving’s homepage. So find your most inspiring photos, add them to your project page, and enter today!

Be sure to tune in to our live webinar on Wednesday, Aug. 21, (watch recording) and read the Terms + Conditions for complete details!

Here’s an overview of the 2019 Photo Contest:

Step 1: Select your photos by August 29th

Organizations are invited to submit up to 3 photos for consideration in the contest. Please submit all photos through one entry form.

Any photo that you would like to submit to the 2019 Photo Contest must be set as the primary photo that is posted on your active project page when you complete and submit the entry form. You may enter existing or new photos into the contest, but any new photos must be uploaded to your project page(s) by Thursday, August 29th, 2019 at 23:59:59 EDT in order to ensure sufficient time for approval by the GlobalGiving team. Complete this entry form once all photos that you wish to submit for consideration in the 2019 Photo Contest are posted on your project page(s).

Step 2: Submit your entry by September 5th

When completing the entry form, you will be asked to include the URL of each project whose primary photo you would like to submit, as well as the project ID. Entry forms must be submitted by Thursday, September 5th, 2019 at 23:59:59 EDT

Step 3: Your photos will be sent for review

Once all photos have been submitted, GlobalGiving’s UX + Creative Designer, Lizette Hechavarria, will review of all submissions to select 20 finalists within each of the contest’s themes (see below for an explanation of the themes).

Step 4: Mobilize your supporters to vote from September 16th – September 20th

Should one of your organization’s photos be selected as a finalist, your job is to reach out to your supporters to encourage them to cast a vote for your photo! Our GlobalGiving staff will email all finalists the voting page before the contest begins. This is a great time to engage your current donors with your project with no donation required.

Also, you can use this opportunity to build your donor network by introducing your project to new supporters. All you have to do is share the voting page with your donors, they will enter their email address to confirm their vote, and they will have the option to subscribe to your organization’s project reports. This will help bring more visibility to your organization and generate more funds for your project.

The voting period will begin on Monday, September 16th at 12:00:01 EDT and end on Friday, September 20th at 12:00:01 EDT. All individuals that vote for your photo will have the option to sign up to receive that project’s reports via GlobalGiving. Voters who sign up to receive project reports and GlobalGiving updates will have their votes counted three times!

Prize Structure:

The organization with the photo that receives the most votes across all categories during the open voting period will be awarded a $1,000 prize to support the organization’s project. The winning project and the five organizations with the top photos in each category will each be featured for a full day on the GlobalGiving homepage and will be highlighted using GlobalGiving’s social media outreach.
