Apply for One-on-One Strategic Planning Support

Apply for One-on-One Strategic Planning Support

GlobalGiving helps organizations access more than just money. Our mission is also to connect you with valuable information and ideas that can help you become a more effective organization and transform your work in the field.  So, this year we will be offering three opportunities to apply to receive one-on-one, in-person support from  members of the GlobalGiving team. This is just one of many ways that we are helping our partners access important information.

Today we are excited to announce the details of this year’s first professional support opportunity. Apply now for the opportunity to receive strategic planning support from Donna Callejon, GlobalGiving’s Chief Business  Officer, and Jacqueline Lee, Senior Program Associate. The deadline to apply is Friday, April 3rd.

About the Opportunity

Is your organization facing a strategic challenge? Are you unsure how to overcome a difficult organizational problem? This unique opportunity will support one organization through the process of defining a strategic challenge, understanding the tools and resources that are available to tackle that challenge, and creating a comprehensive outline of actionable steps to achieve your goals. In addition to several hours of remote preparation, Donna and Jacqueline will spend 3-4 days in-person with the organization bringing together organizational stakeholders (staff, board members, donors, partners, etc.) to offer strategic planning training and one-on-one support.

What is a strategic challenge?

A strategic challenge is a problem that requires a multi-step plan and cannot be solved with a one-step solution. The plan involves:  identifying goals, barriers and opportunities, evaluating alternative strategies for addressing the challenge, identifying resource needs, and making decisions to take steps toward identified solution options.

Here are just a few examples of the types of challenges that your organization may want to address:

  • Business modeling and planning for growth
    • Example challenges you might be facing:
      • “There is a bigger need for our services than our team can handle. How do we go about planning for growth to support those needs?”
  • Organizational governance, including board recruitment and management
    • Example challenges you might be facing:
      • “My organization needs to grow our board. How do we recruit qualified candidates?”
      • “I have a board, but I need help managing it. How do I create an effective and impactful board.”
  • Marketing and business development
    • Example challenges you might be facing:
      • “We want to begin recruiting partnerships to support our work. How can we best approach this and what sort of results can we expect?”
      • “We want to improve our messaging and and outreach methods. How can we be strategic about this?”

The purpose of this opportunity is to provide your organization with the framework, insights and knowledge you need to excel! Although Donna and Jacqueline are available to offer training, support, and advice, they are not responsible for creating or implementing your action plan. Similarly, this exciting opportunity is not directly tied to additional fundraising resources or corporate partnership opportunities, so while strategies for outreach may be part of the work, the team is not expecting to connect you with funders as a result of this opportunity.
