They both were an amazing addition to our team and contributed a great deal to aiding in all our nonprofit partner’s success on GlobalGiving! As sad as we are to see Tia and Jenn go, we are excited to introduce to you our 2nd class of Program Fellows! We have welcomed three hardworking individuals who will spend 13 months with our GlobalGiving team providing training and support to you, our nonprofit partners!

New Roles Added to Your GlobalGiving Account!

New Roles Added to Your GlobalGiving Account!

Today, GlobalGiving is launching two additional account roles to make it easier for your organization to manage your GlobalGiving project. You already know that you can have Project Leader and Disbursement Contacts on your account, but now you can add Project Contributors and Rewards Contributors! By adding these additional account types, Project Leaders can receive assistance from other staff members on the various tasks required on GlobalGiving.

Why add these roles?

We know that organizations often have help from staff to finish all the necessary tasks to maintain projects on GlobalGiving. We want Project Leaders to have the ability to recruit volunteers to assist with this work without allowing them full access to sensitive information, such as bank details. By giving you more roles to assign to staff, you can have additional assistance with a variety of tasks and still hold privileges to private information.

Stronger Together: Growing the GlobalGiving Community

Stronger Together: Growing the GlobalGiving Community

You probably know that GlobalGiving is committed to listening to feedback from our nonprofit partners. Your feedback has helped us improve bonus days, guided our tech team on what fundraising tools to build, helped us design the GG Rewards program, and even influenced our website re-design. One thing that hasn’t changed is the way that nonprofits join GlobalGiving. Since 2008, new partners have had to succeed in an Open Challenge to become a permanent part of GlobalGiving’s community. This is about to change.

After every Open Challenge, we receive survey feedback from participants. Most participating organizations have a positive experience; they raise important funding for their program, improve their online fundraising abilities, and diversify their donor network. Nevertheless, we often receive feedback that the time restrictions created by the Open Challenge are too rigid to accommodate busy calendars. We also hear that some wonderful organizations aren’t able to qualify for permanent membership in the time allotted, even though they are doing great work in their community.

Announcing the 2nd Anniversary Typhoon Haiyan Matching Campaign

Announcing the 2nd Anniversary Typhoon Haiyan Matching Campaign

On November 8, 2013, Typhoon Haiyan (known locally as Yolanda) caused catastrophic damage and devastated many lives, affecting more than 12 million people. On the first anniversary of the Typhoon, GlobalGiving offered a 100% match for all donations to projects promoting long-term recovery in the Philippines. Partners like you raised more than $100,000 from more than 400 donors!

We would like to announce the 2nd anniversary matching campaign to support your recovery and rebuilding efforts from the typhoon, because as we know, disasters don’t end when the news stops. Mark your calendars and notify your donors: the 100% match campaign starts on globalgiving.org and  globagiving.co.uk on November 5th at 20:00:01 ET, and it will last until funds run out. Find out what time it starts where you are here.

Here are the criteria for a donation to get matched (see full terms and conditions below):

  • Projects must be Typhoon Haiyan relief and/or rebuilding focused, based in the Philippines.
  • On November 3, 2015, check the leaderboard on globalgiving.org and/or globalgiving.co.uk to make sure your project is on it. If not, please notify our team at projecthelp@globalgiving.org.
  • Only donations made online are eligible for matching. This includes donations made by credit/debit card, PayPal, and GlobalGiving gift card. For donations through globalgiving.co.uk, CAF online donations will also be eligible.
  • Donations up to $1,000 per donor per organization will be matched while funds last on GlobalGiving.org. Donations up to £600 per donor per organization on globalgiving.co.uk will be matched while funds last.
  • If matching funds run out, donations will no longer be matched. Please note that matching funds on GlobalGiving.org and GlobalGiving.co.uk can run out at different times. You should check each leaderboard to view the available matching.
  • Donations on corporate platforms, on JustGiving, or donations by check will not be matched on either platform.

Here are the key differences to note:

Let’s Get Ready to (Online) Fundraise!

Let’s Get Ready to (Online) Fundraise!

Who raised over $5.7 million in December 2014? If you guessed GlobalGiving’s nonprofit partners, then you’re right!

Each December, GlobalGiving runs its annual Year-End Campaign to support current nonprofit partners to raise money during the biggest giving season of the year. With October upon us, that means it’s time to start thinking about how to maximize your fundraising efforts and end your year with a financial bang.

According to Blackbaud’s Charitable Giving Report, nonprofits raise more in December than any other month of the year – almost 18% of all annual online giving!
