Introducing the GlobalGiving Girl Fund

GlobalGiving believes that every girl deserves a chance to realize her full potential, and we know you do too! That’s why we started the GlobalGiving Girl Fund — so we could provide ongoing support to projects that are dedicated to helping women and girls around the world thrive.

The GlobalGiving Girl Fund Campaign is an opportunity for projects focused on women and girls to participate in a two-week fundraising campaign, earn GG Rewards points, and compete for a spot in the 2017 GlobalGiving Girl Fund. Six projects will earn a spot in the fund along with an exclusive banner on their project page and guaranteed funding. Historically, GlobalGiving fund recipients have received up to $1,500 per month.

Every GlobalGiving partner with a project supporting women and/or girls has a chance to compete for one of these six spots! So how do you get started? Fill out this short form by February 24 to join us for the GlobalGiving Girl Fund Campaign! Then, mobilize your donor network and demonstrate your work through an effectiveness cycle to earn a spot in the fund!

Donations Matched 100% to Italy Earthquake Recovery Projects!

Donations Matched 100% to Italy Earthquake Recovery Projects!

As we come up on the six month anniversary of the Italy Earthquake in August 2016, we are reminded of the destruction Italy shouldered during the 6.2 magnitude quake last year. The most recent 5.4 magnitude earthquake and extreme weather conditions makes the original relief efforts for the August 2016 earthquake even more difficult. However, we are encouraged by our partners’ dedication to rebuilding the cities, towns, and lives destroyed beyond the first sixth months of relief efforts. To support your ongoing commitment to Italy recovery, GlobalGiving will match donations to your Italy recovery projects at 100% starting February 24th, 2017.

If you have programs that were impacted, be sure to post a project that is tagged as “disaster recovery” and mentions the earthquake in Italy in August 2016, although your project can be, and most likely will be, inclusive of the most recent earthquake and aftershocks. You project must be tagged and approved by February 21st, 2017 to be eligible. You must also be Partner, Leader, or Superstar status on GlobalGiving.

10 Tips for Accelerator Participants!

10 Tips for Accelerator Participants!

Creamos is a new partner of GlobalGiving having just finished the September Accelerator program. Creamos aims to improve women’s lives in Guatemala through various income-generating and welfare initiatives that foster self-esteem, physical health and financial independence. They raised the most money in the Accelerator campaign and they have shared the following insights with us.

Here in Creamos we are a small team of five. Before the accelerator program, none of us had any experience in crowd funding. We had so many questions entering the campaign – Where do we start? How are we going to ask people for money? How are we going to balance the campaign with our actual work?

Ecuador Earthquake Recovery 100% Matching Begins October 11th!

Ecuador Earthquake Recovery 100% Matching Begins October 11th!

On April 16, 2016, a 7.8 earthquake hit the northwest region of Ecuador and was followed by many aftershocks causing devastating damage. According to the IMF, rebuilding could take 2-3 years and cost billions of dollars.

On October 11, 2016 at 9 am  EDT, donations to Ecuador earthquake recovery projects will be matched 100% to support the immediate relief efforts!

If you have programs that were impacted by the April 16th earthquake in Ecuador, be sure to post a project that is tagged as “disaster recovery” and mentions the Ecuador earthquake before October 7th to be included in this opportunity. The campaign will last until funds run out or until 23:59 p.m. EDT on April 30, 2017, whichever comes first. For more information, watch the campaign webinar recording here. You can find the full terms and conditions on the leaderboard here.

To date, GlobalGiving has provided $170,000 in funding to organizations through the Ecuador Earthquake Relief Fund.  With this funding, GlobalGiving partners have been able to provide psychosocial support to adults and children, safe areas for children to play, health kits, clean water, shelter, and more. Even though it has been six months since this devastating earthquake, organizations have let us know that support is still needed for rebuilding and recovery. GlobalGiving is committed to supporting our nonprofit partners invested in communities impacted by disasters, like the earthquake, and committed to long-lasting relief.
