Calling All Animal Lovers This May!

Calling All Animal Lovers This May!

WHAT: Paws + Claws is a one-day matching campaign designed to celebrate animal-themed projects by matching donations up to $500 at 30% with $15,000 in matching funds and $5,000 in bonus prizes.

WHY: Here at GlobalGiving we know everyone needs a little help sometimes, including our animal friends. That’s why, on Biological Diversity Day,  we’re running the Paws + Claws Campaign. It’s the time to celebrate and empower our friends that can’t speak for themselves and demonstrate why we do the work we do!

WHO: The Paws + Claws Campaign is exclusively for GlobalGiving Partners, Leaders, and Superstars. Active projects and microprojects with the primary or secondary theme of  ‘animals’ will be automatically included. The deadline to submit new projects for inclusion in this campaign is Friday, May 17th.

Leading up to the campaign, approvals of project reports, project edits, and project appeals will take 1-3 business days to process.

WHEN + WHERE: GlobalGiving’s 2019 Paws + Claws Campaign runs from 09:00:00 ET to 23:59:59 ET on Wednesday, May 22, 2019. Fundraising totals and bonus prizes will be displayed on the Paws + Claws leaderboard.

Meet GlobalGiving’s 2018 Disaster Feedback Fellows

Meet GlobalGiving’s 2018 Disaster Feedback Fellows

Ana Yris Guzmán is the co-founder of Nuestra Escuela, a flourishing alternative high school in Caguas, Puerto Rico.

Ever since Hurricane Maria hit, Ana is also a disaster relief coordinator.

The hurricane uprooted many of her students and staff. “They lost many things, including family, houses, the basic necessities,” Ana told me earlier this year.

So, Ana is doing what needs to be done for hurricane survivors in addition to her everyday duties. Nuestra Escuela’s hurricane relief projects include a free food program, post-traumatic stress relief curriculum, and a creative cleanup project. The cleanup project is led by a team of Nuestra Escuela students who are transforming hurricane-uprooted trees into school furniture.

“With the support of many people, we can recover,” Ana said.

The 2018 Photo Contest Is Here!

The 2018 Photo Contest Is Here!

GlobalGiving’s 9th Annual Photo Contest is right around the corner! Each year we have the pleasure of showcasing the amazing impact of our nonprofit partners through the art of photography. This contest is the perfect opportunity to improve your organization’s visual messaging, cultivate stronger relationships with existing donors, and expand your support base of prospective donors.

In a new spin on the rules this year, people who sign up to receive updates from your project and GlobalGiving when voting will have their votes counted three times! This is a great way to increase visibility and generate more funds for your project. Your organization will also have a chance to compete for prizes including $1,000 towards your project, social media promotion, and time on GlobalGiving’s homepage! So find your most compelling and vivid photos, add them to your project page, and follow the simple step by step instructions below to enter the contest.

GlobalGiving’s Second Peer-to-Peer Mentoring Program!

GlobalGiving’s Second Peer-to-Peer Mentoring Program!

Last year, we listened to your feedback for GlobalGiving to build additional ways for you to learn from your peers and built the GlobalGiving Mentoring Program. Last year’s program was a giant success with more than 100 requests to chat with one of our mentors! From learning more about marketing your organization to navigating through the GG Rewards system, our mentors helped many of you to take your organization to the next level.

We are continuing the program this year with four new GlobalGiving partners who are here to mentor you through your fundraising journey and help your organization become more successful. Here are the four topics you can now receive assistance on through a consultation:

  • Social Media Marketing on a Tight Budget – Magy Kaleynska (GLOW Association)
    • Magy will help your organization build a social presence which is key for attracting more supporters and donors for your cause. If you struggle to do it on a tight or no budget, than this consultation is for you! You will learn specific tactics for attracting followers for your profiles and keeping the ones you already have active.
  • Maximizing Your Fundraising on GlobalGiving  – Mansi Kotak (The Rahul Kotak Foundation)
    • Mansi will help your organization think through how to create simple, effective and eye-catching infographics, posters and videos on a budget to help you raise more funds!
  • Maximizing Benefits through GG Rewards Strategies – Venkat Ramakrishnan (Isha Vidhya)
    • Venkat has been on GlobalGiving for three years with his organization, Isha Vidhya, and has learned a great deal about how best to use the GlobalGiving platform for your organization’s success! Venkat can help you better understand how you can utilize the GG Rewards system to become more effective as an organization and get more donor visibility!
  • Using Integrated Communications for Storytelling  – Alicia Carter (Even Ground)
    • Alicia will help your organization develop a personal connection between donors and your cause by focusing on ways to tell positive stories of empowerment and success using email, social media, and video to engage your donors and promote your cause!
