Introducing GlobalGiving’s Top 10 List!

Introducing GlobalGiving’s Top 10 List!

It’s the second anniversary of GG Rewards, so we’re celebrating nonprofits in the GlobalGiving community that have demonstrated the greatest commitment to effectiveness! As you probably know, GlobalGiving believes people and organizations who Listen, Act, Learn. Repeat are the most effective, and we measure your effectiveness through GG Rewards. This September we’ll launch a Top 10 List of organizations with the most Effectiveness Points!

If you have completed at least one Effectiveness Cycle on GG Rewards by August 18th, your organization will be eligible to be named in the GlobalGiving Top 10 Nonprofits Committed To Impact. Our inaugural List will feature the ten organizations with the most Effectiveness Points, and we’ll also highlight five honorable mentions—organizations whose submitted cycles make us say, “wow!”

We’ll promote the Top 10 List throughout our site and with our partners and also provide winners with digital badges and promotional materials! Winners will also receive award grants; $1,000 for the first place winner, and $500 for the others, including honorable mentions! So take a minute to check in with GG Rewards, complete any unfinished cycles, and share your “Listen, Act, Learn. Repeat.” stories with us today!

Are YOU Ready for Youth Week?

Are YOU Ready for Youth Week?

Today, youth make up 16% of the world’s population, the largest ever in history. Children around the world experience extreme poverty, child marriage and prostitution, internal displacement, increased risk of HIV/AIDS, and so many other challenges. Nevertheless, young people everywhere continue to act as community leaders and peacemakers. That is why the International Youth Day 2017 theme is Youth Building Peace to recognize the youth efforts in creating sustainable change. Every day our children give us hope for a better future and a reason to fight for it. This year GlobalGiving wants to celebrate our partners working with our future and we are excited to launch the  International Youth Week Campaign!

This August, all projects that work with youth qualify for the week-long campaign.  Starting at 9:00am EDT on Monday, August 7th, and running until 11:59pm EDT on International Youth Day, Saturday, August 12th, GlobalGiving will have $13,000 in matching funds available applied at 100% on all eligible donations up to $250. Additionally, there is a 100% match on all recurring donations started during the campaign week (up to $250). GlobalGiving will also be giving out $2,000 worth of bonus prizes to the top 3 projects with the most funds raised and top 3 projects with the most unique donors!

Drum roll please… Announcing the 2017 Video Contest Winners!

Here at GlobalGiving we believe in the power of stories. And, in today’s digital world, it is more important than ever for nonprofits to be able to both tell and show their stories.

This year the GlobalGiving Video Contest received a record-setting 112 entries! We were thrilled to see your use of this important medium and it was extremely difficult to choose the top five entries — but here we go!

The 2017 grand prize winner for GlobalGiving’s Sixth Annual Video Contest is The Sweethearts Foundation, an incredible nonprofit based in South Africa which provides wheelchairs to men, women, and children in need. Want to find out how they do it? You’ll have to watch their video!

This year, our friends at the Social Impact Media Awards (SIMA) judged the top entries. SIMA is a nonprofit that celebrates social-documentary storytelling of excellence, screens films in communities and  classrooms worldwide, and connects international audiences and organizations  with the best global impact cinema.
