GlobalGiving welcomes India to the #GivingTuesday family

#GivingTuesday is a global day of giving, celebrated for 6 years now, in more than 98 countries, fueled by the power of social media and collaboration. #GivingTuesday connects diverse groups of individuals, communities and organizations around the world for one common purpose: to celebrate and encourage giving. GlobalGiving has been involved with #GivingTuesday since it’s inception. This year, for the very first time, India is launching its own #GivingTuesdayIndia on Tuesday, October 3rd 2017 – the Tuesday of #DaanUtsav.

What is #DaanUtsav? (translates to ‘Festival of Giving’)

Since 2009, India has been celebrating #DaanUtsav, its Joy of Giving week from Oct 2-8, starting with Mahatma Gandhi’s birthday. In 2016, for the very first time, GlobalGiving celebrated #DaanUtsav in collaboration with our Indian platform partner Impact Guru, and supported our Indian partners to celebrate their local week of giving. GlobalGiving is excited to cheer our Indian partners on as the country celebrates its very first #GivingTuesdayIndia. A number of organisations and individuals are joining the movement by signing up on the GivingTuesdayIndia portal, stating how they plan to give on October 3, you could do it too.

How can you get involved?

If you are a philanthropic intermediary in India , you could get involved as a collaborator by supporting the #GivingTuesdayIndia movement with your resources, assets, partners, and special campaigns to promote giving. Our Indian platform partner Impact Guru is giving away one month of free service on their platform + social media shout outs to the organisation that raises the highest funds  via their platform on #GivingTuesdayIndia.

GlobalGiving is rooting for #GivingTuesdayIndia. It’s a simple idea. Whether you come together with your family, your community, your company, or your organisation, find a way to give back and then share your idea. Whatever it is that you choose to do, remember to always use #GivingTuesdayIndia #DaanUtsav so that your act of giving strengthens the giving movement to create a better India, a better world!
