As you may know, GlobalGiving works to help organizations access more than just money. Our mission is also to connect you with valuable information and ideas that can help you become a more effective organization and transform your work in the field. For 2016 we have three opportunities to receive one-on-one, in-person support from members of the GlobalGiving team.
Today we are excited to announce the details of one of these professional support opportunities! Apply now to receive branding and design support from Acacia Betancourt, GlobalGiving’s Senior Graphic Designer, and Angela Wu, Business Partnerships Manager. The deadline to apply is Wednesday, August 24th.
About the Opportunity
Does your organization have a brand that could be more consistent, cohesive and tell a more compelling story? Does your logo need a refresh? Would a brand style guide and communications templates be tremendously useful? Are you looking to tell your story through honest photos that represent your mission? If so, the this opportunity is for you! This unique program will support one organization through the process of defining current branding and design challenges and understanding the tools, techniques, and resources available to tackle these challenges. In additional to several hours of remote preparation, Acacia and Angela will spend a week in-person with the organization to offer branding and design support.
Acacia and Angela will:
- Ask in-depth questions to understand the core identity of your organization and what it needs most in terms of branding and design
- Research the brands of similar successful orgs and apply that learning to custom solutions for your organization
- Collect and help organize existing brand assets: photos, videos, logos, colors, website elements etc.
- Talk through collective ideas and set realistic goals that are achievable in a week visit
- Teach design and photography basics to your team to help the materials you create look more professional and be more impactful
- Brainstorm tangible ways to improve the brand direction and collaborate on next steps for implementing those strategies—like designing templates, for example—based on what is learned during the “discovery” phase.
Potential Deliverable Ideas:
It is recommended that you choose 2-3 of the options below for your focus:
- Edited or updated logo
- Brand style guide
- Consultation on potential website improvements
- Print materials or templates
- High quality, high resolution photos that fit your brand
The purpose of this opportunity is to provide your organization with the framework, insights and knowledge you need to excel in telling your brand story. Acacia and Angela are available to offer training, support, and advice during the visit, but there will be a signed agreement detailing the actual time commitment and deliverables. Similarly, this exciting opportunity is not directly tied to additional fundraising resources or corporate partnership opportunities; the team will not connect you with funders as a result of this opportunity.
Meet Acacia and Angela
Acacia Betancourt – Senior Graphic Designer
Acacia is responsible for the visual integrity and growth of the GlobalGiving brand, and uses her love of design to create awesome media that resonates with our audience. Prior to working at GlobalGiving, she was galavanting around North America, getting a bachelor of fine arts from the University of Arizona in her hometown of Tucson, and working with brands like National Geographic, Newseum, WTOP, the Royal Ontario Museum, and the Harry Potter Exhibition. After honing her branding, print, web, user experience, packaging, advertising, and video editing skills, Acacia has joined the ranks of the nonprofit world to continue using her experience for good. When she’s not obsessing over fonts, she can be found kayaking, hiking, buying yet another houseplant, or playing this game.
Angela Wu – Business Partnerships Manager
Since childhood, Angela has harbored a fascination for stories and their power to inspire social change. Continually astounded by how interconnected our world is, she is grateful to work on GlobalGiving’s Business Development team, where she helps connect companies, and their generous support, to nonprofits that are creating positive change in their local communities. A creative spirit, Angela is delighted by design projects such as creating reports that communicate trends and impact to corporate partners. Angela is a D.C. area native and a graduate of the University of Virginia. When she’s not documenting life in photo and film form, you can find her swaying her shoulders at Indie Folk concerts.
The Application Process
Only GlobalGiving Partners, Leaders, and Superstars are eligible to apply for this opportunity. Apply online here by Wednesday, August 24th. Finalists will be selected to participate in an interview process in late August. One organization will be selected to receive in-person, hands on support.
